Dr. Jonathan D. Turner, Partner
Jon Turner has 2 decades’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry and in life sciences investment.

Most recently he has been advising multiple investors in the pharmaceutical biotech, medtech and ecotech sectors and prior to this had been Corporate Head, Business Development at Boehringer Ingelheim, Global Director, Discovery Alliances at AstraZeneca and Departmental Head, CNS Research at Schering AG. These roles provided experience in in- and outlicensing of products and technologies, strategic alliance conception and management, complex public-private project management and operational drug discovery.

He has had global responsibilities in inward licensing of clinical stage products, licensing strategy and competitive intelligence across all major indications, in academic and strategic alliances and product or technology acquisitions up to Phase II in the Respiratory and Inflammation therapy area. In these roles he was responsible for multiple acquisitions and divestments, from contact through to closure, as well as for project management of alliances and internal projects.

His drug finding and research project management responsibilities were focused in the preclinic on the neurological indications Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease. These efforts led to progression of multiple projects to clinical trials, and included a BMBF-funded consortium translating academic science into drug finding projects. He has a broad network in the pharma, biotech, academic and investment communities worldwide.

Jon Turner gained a PhD in Neuropharmacology at St Andrews University, UK, held an EMBO fellowship to research at INSERM in Paris and taught in Psychiatry at University of Newcastle, UK before joining industry. His working languages are German and English.
